The MARDI
Cameron Highland’s Station was established by the
Malayan British administrators in 1925. It was
then known as the Federal Experimental Station.
Tea was first introduced in the country in 1925
and these early tea bushes are growing healthy at
the station until today. The first tea factory
built in 1935 is still capable of processing black
tea.
The Agro technology Park MARDI Cameron Highlands is
located within the station and was officiated by
His Royal Highness DYMM The Sultan Of Pahang on
14th of June, 2003.
The Agro technology Park is about 1km east of the
main town of Tanah Rata and can be reached by car,
taxi, bus or even on foot. Among the major
attractions here are the English Garden,
strawberry farm and production centre, vegetable
and cut flower production, green house research
facility and the sales centre.
Should you wish
to stay overnight or more at the park,
accommodation is available at the 'English
Cottage.' Current rates:

GETTING THERE : |
|
Cameron
Highlands is accessible either via Tapah in
Perak or Simpang Pulai, near Ipoh. From Kuala
Lumpur via the North-South Expressway look out
for the Simpang Pulai exit just before Ipoh.
This route is much smoother and the road is
broader compared to the old one that winds up
through the jungle via Tapah town. From the
East (Kelantan State) take the Gua Musang –
Lojing route for 130km westward passing the
intersection to the Kelantan town of Jeli, up
the main range via the East-West Highway after
which you will pass the north Perak town of
Gerik, Lenggong and onwards to Kuala Kangsar
and the North-South Expressway to Simpang
Pulai in Ipoh.
The Cameron Highlands Agro technology Park is
about 1km east of the main town of Tanah Rata
and can be reached by car, taxi, bus or even
on foot.
Note: Cameron Highlands offer many
delightful jungle trails for hours of exciting
tropical highlands adventure. However, during
poor weather conditions, please consult your
hotel or guesthouse on the suitability of the
trails before embarking on your trek. It is
best to engage a guide and go in a group. You
are also advised to report to the nearest
police station or outpost just in case. Your
trek should begin in the morning so that you
can safely return before nightfall.
